Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.

— Roger Caras

It all started in a New Jersey Trailer Park…..

Like so many other families, we tried to find a silver living during the 2020 Covid Pandemic lockdowns and made a decision: we were getting a dog. Both being big supporters of animal rescues, we knew adoption was the only option for us. So one Saturday morning we woke up early and drove to our nearby Humane Society in Nassau County with the hopes of finding our fur kid.

It was a chilly day for Florida, and most of the puppies at the shelter were huddled away inside, curled up next to a nearby heater. Then all of a sudden this tiny, white ball of love with a wonky tail, and tongue hanging out of his face trots his happy, wiggly butt to the fence to say hello. It was love at first crooked tail wag.

We had learned that our pup Boone (named after Daniel Boone for his fearless curiosity and love of exploration) was from a litter of puppies found at a New Jersey trailer park, and that his first given name was Trailer Park #8. Due to the Covid shelter closures in the northern states, rescues were driving homeless animals to the open states down South for adoption. From the New Jersey trailer park to the sunshine state of Florida, welcome to your forever family Boone! We love you Crooked Tail.

Happy Gotcha Day!
